About this collection

Curly hair treatments — bond-builders, protein masks, scalp treatments, and deep moisture intensives. Used weekly or as targeted interventions for specific concerns: breakage repair, porosity reset, scalp support, intensive moisture for chronically dry hair. Different from daily conditioner — treatments work at a deeper structural level.

Treatment categories

Bond-builders (Curlsmith Bond Curl Rehab, Olaplex No.3): repair broken disulphide bonds caused by chemical processing or heat. Weekly for damaged hair, every 2-3 weeks for maintenance.

Protein treatments (Aphogee Two-Step, rice water rinses): replenish keratin in the strand. Weekly maximum for damaged hair, monthly for healthy. Over-use causes brittleness.

Deep moisture intensives (Camille Rose Algae Renew, SheaMoisture Manuka Honey Mask): replace moisture lost from cleansing and environmental exposure. Weekly under heat for all curl types.

Scalp treatments (Kitsch Pre-Wash Scalp Oil, rosemary tonic): support scalp health and follicle function. 2-3 times weekly for 3-6 months for visible growth effects.

Frequently asked

How often should I use a curly hair treatment?
Weekly for the deep conditioning category. Bond-builders weekly if damaged, monthly if healthy. Scalp treatments 2-3 times weekly. Don't over-use — alternate moisture and protein.
Best UK bond-building treatment?
Curlsmith Bond Curl Rehab Salve (£25) for curl-specific bond repair. Olaplex No.3 (£28) for the pure-chemistry version. Both proven; Bond Rehab is gentler for curl pattern.
How long should treatments stay in?
Bond-builders: 15-20 min under heat. Deep moisture masks: 20-30 min under heat. Scalp oils: 5-20 minutes massage + leave-in 20 min before washing.
Will treatments fix damage permanently?
Bond-builders rebuild structural integrity over weeks of consistent use. Moisture treatments are ongoing maintenance. Damaged sections that won't recover (severely heat-damaged ends) need trimming.
Best UK curly hair treatment under £30?
Curlsmith Bond Curl Rehab Salve (£25) — bond repair for damaged hair. Or Camille Rose Algae Renew Mask (£16) — deep moisture for dry curls. Each lasts 8-12 uses.
Can I do multiple treatments in one week?
Yes — bond-builder one day, deep moisture mask 3-4 days later. Don't combine protein-heavy treatments (Aphogee + rice water + bond-builder all in one week) — causes protein overload.
Best UK protein treatment for type 4 hair?
Curlsmith Bond Curl Rehab Salve weekly + monthly Aphogee Two-Minute Reconstructor. Type 4 generally tolerates more protein than looser types.
Why isn't my treatment working?
Build-up blocking penetration (clarify first). Or you're doing the wrong treatment (protein when hair needs moisture, or vice versa). Strand stretch test: stretches and snaps = need protein; snaps instantly = need moisture.
