Shea Moisture Coconut Hibiscus Hold and Shine Mist
A mist rather than a cream, which makes it the tool for refreshing a style you have already done rather than building one from scratch. Coconut and hibiscus is SheaMoisture's long-running blend for thick curly hair, and this is the version that comes out of a spray bottle.
Coconut oil hydrates and gives some protection against heat and chemical damage. Silk protein strengthens and smooths, which is where the reduction in breakage comes from. Neem oil is the ayurvedic addition, used here for strength and shine. The formula leaves out parabens, phthalates, paraffin, formaldehyde, propylene glycol, mineral oil, synthetic fragrance, PABA, synthetic colour, DEA, animal ingredients and sulphates, and the ingredients are ethically traded and sustainably produced.

Spray liberally through towel-dried hair from roots to ends and comb it through with a wide-tooth comb, then style. It also works on dry hair when a style needs waking up on day three, which is where most people end up using it most often.

Application tips
Hold the bottle about a hand's width away and mist in passes rather than soaking one spot. Towel-dried hair takes it best, and a wide-tooth comb afterwards spreads it further than your fingers will.
On day three it works dry too, lifted with damp palms over the flattened side you slept on. Do not saturate the roots on fine hair or the body drops.
Results
Frizz settles and the surface reflects light instead of scattering it, which is where the shine comes from. Hold is light, enough to keep a curl in shape without stiffness.
Thick, curly textures get more body from it than fine hair does. The scent is coconut and floral, and it fades back over the first hour.
