Dax Pressing Oil for Sleek, Straight Styles with Heat Protection & Shine
Pressing hair with a hot comb predates most of what sits on a shelf marked heat protection, and it needs an oil rather than a spray. Dax makes that oil, giving the tool enough slip to pass cleanly through a section instead of catching and dragging.
Petrolatum and mineral oil form the base, coating the hair shaft and creating the smooth surface the comb runs along. Lanolin is the emollient, keeping hair soft and flexible rather than dry after a press. Coconut oil penetrates the strand and cuts protein loss, and castor seed oil conditions and adds shine.
What it does
- Puts a protective coating between the hot tool and the hair
- Lets a hot comb or flat iron glide instead of snagging
- Coconut oil reduces protein loss through the press
- Smooths the cuticle against frizz, flyaways and static
How to use it
Start with clean hair, dry or barely damp, and detangle before you begin. Take a small amount, section the hair and coat each section lightly from root to end. Press each oiled section with your hot comb or flat iron. To finish, rub a pearl-sized amount between your palms and smooth it over the top.
Made for pressed and flat-ironed styles on textured hair.

Application tips
Detangle before anything else, then work in sections on hair that is dry or only just damp. A thin film along the whole strand is what you want, spread from root to end, not a blob sitting at the mid-length.
Press one section at a time. Excess oil smokes on a hot comb and drags the hair flat, so go light and add more only where a pass needs it.
Results
The hot comb or iron travels cleanly and stops catching, which means fewer passes and less heat spent on the same section. Hair comes through the press smooth and soft, with the cuticle sealed down against frizz, flyaways and static. The shine is deep, and the style holds its straightness for longer in humid air.
