Braiding a child's hair is a race against how long they will sit still, so the product has to grip on the first pass and stay put for days afterwards. A braiding jam does that better than a cream, because it has enough tack to hold a parting and enough slip to let the sections lie flat.
This one is made with coconut oil, hibiscus flower extract and certified organic shea butter. The hold is firm but flexible, so cornrows and twists stay neat through a week of school and playtime without going crunchy or shedding white flakes onto the scalp.
A little goes a long way, which matters when you are working across a whole head. Take a small amount on the back of your hand, work it into each section as you part, and resist adding more when the hair drinks the first pass. Too much and the braid goes heavy rather than neat.
It smooths the baby hairs down at the same time, which is usually the difference between a style that looks finished and one that does not. Suits curly, coily and thicker wavy children's hair, roughly type 2c to 4a. 5.5 oz.
