A fan brush picks up almost nothing, which is the entire reason to own one. Spread thin across a wide arc, the bristles hold a whisper of product, and that is exactly the amount of highlighter you want on a cheekbone.
The RMUB04 uses soft synthetic fibres, so it works with pressed and loose powders alike and does not drink up product the way natural hair can. Past highlight, it is useful for dusting setting powder on in a light sweep, for softening the hard edge of a contour, and for flicking away the fallout that lands under the eye during eyeshadow.
Synthetic fibres also wash easily. A drop of shampoo, a rinse, then lay it flat to dry so the fan keeps its shape. Tap the excess off before it touches your face, because a fan brush loaded properly will still deposit more than you intended.

Application tips
Load it flat, then knock the handle against the back of your hand so only what clings stays behind. Whatever survives that is roughly the right dose.
Sweep along the top of the cheekbone in one direction rather than back and forth, then take the same pass up the bridge of the nose and over the brow bone. Hold it by the end of the handle, since a light grip is what keeps the pressure light.
Results
Highlighter goes on as a glow rather than a stripe, sitting in the skin instead of on top of it, and that comes down entirely to how little the brush carries.
Powder lands evenly with no visible edges. Contour softens into the skin around it rather than staying sharp. The fibres stay comfortable against the face through a full application and shed nothing onto finished makeup.
