Hold comes from ceteareth-25 and PVP, a polymer that resists humidity so the shape survives a damp day. Glycerin and propylene glycol are the humectants that keep the gel from drying out and flaking white on the hairline. Argan and olive oils condition the fine baby hairs, while PEG-7 glyceryl cocoate and PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil soften the texture so it spreads easily.

How to use it
Start with edges that are clean and either dry or slightly damp. Take a pea-sized amount on a fingertip, comb or edge brush, apply along the hairline working from the roots outwards, and sculpt each section into shape. Let it air dry for a few minutes. Tying a silk scarf around the hairline for five to ten minutes sets it harder.

Application tips
Fifty millilitres is a small pot, so measure in fingertips rather than scoops. Press the gel into the roots first and brush the shape outward from there, which is where the hold needs to be.
Tie a satin scarf over the front and leave it while you finish the rest of the style. Reset the next day with water and a brush before adding any more.
Results
