Narrow brushes are parting tools. The head is barely wider than a section, which is exactly what you want when you are laying a cornrow line or working edge control along a hairline without smearing it up into the rest of the hair.
The 7705 is the medium firmness version, and it handles gel and pomade better than a soft brush does. A soft head loads up with product and starts pushing it around. A medium head keeps enough spring to distribute it evenly and comb the hair flat at the same time.

Rinse the head after a session with gel. Product dries into the base and stiffens the bristles faster than anything else will, and a stiff narrow brush is no use to anyone.

Application tips
Section first, brush second. Hold the hair either side of the parting out of the way, take a small amount of gel or edge control on the fingertips, spread it along the strands, then use short flicking strokes to comb everything down flat.
Follow the line you want rather than sweeping in one direction. Rinse the head under warm water after any session with product, and stand it bristle side down to dry.
Results
Partings come out clean and stay where you put them, which is most of what separates a finished cornrow set from an approximate one.
Along the hairline, product goes on thin and even instead of sitting in visible ridges, and baby hairs lie in the shape you brushed them. The hair behind the working section stays undisturbed, so you are not re-laying the whole style each time you move.
