The 7701 is the medium club brush, which makes it the least dramatic and most used brush in the range. Bristles firm enough to carry hair, soft enough not to punish the scalp, on an oval head with a handle.
Medium firmness is what makes it versatile. It will smooth a curl pattern without flattening it, lay a wave without needing a hard brush first, and get through a light tangle on dry hair. Anyone with one brush in the bathroom and no strong opinion about bristle firmness will get on with it perfectly well.
The oval head is wide enough to cover a section in one pass but narrow enough to steer around the back of the ear, which is the part of a haircut most brushes ignore.
Any texture, most days, on wet or dry hair. Coarse and dense heads may still want something harder doing the laying work first.
