Start on the hard side. That is the one with enough backbone to get through thick hair, break up a section that has dried in the wrong direction and put real tension on the pattern. Turn it over for the last few minutes and the soft side flattens the surface, moves the oil along the strand and takes off the fuzz the hard pass raised. Palm brushes have no handle, so the pressure comes from your whole hand, which is more than most people realise the first time they use one.

Application tips
Flip it halfway. Six or seven minutes on the reinforced side to lay the hair, then the last three on the soft face to close the surface down. Set a timer if you are the sort to lose track.
With no handle, the weight comes from your forearm, so keep your wrist straight and push through the heel of your hand. Pull the shed hair out of both beds after every session.
