A palm brush has no handle, so your whole hand drives it. That gives you more downward pressure than a club brush can, and it is why wavers move onto them once a pattern starts to show.
The 7739CVD adds a curve to the bristle bed. A flat brush only makes full contact across the top of the head and loses the sides; a curved bed follows the skull, so the bristles at the edges are still doing work when the brush is over your temple. The bristles here are hard, which is the right choice for coarse or resistant hair that a soft brush glides over without moving.
Hard bristles are not for everyone. If your hair is fine, or short and freshly cut, this will feel like too much, and a soft or medium brush will lay it down just as well. Coarse textures with a pattern already forming are where this one belongs.

Application tips
Spread your fingers over the back and let the heel of your hand carry the weight. Long strokes rather than short scrubs, and let the curve settle against the head before you start moving.
Finish one region before you move on to the next, so the pattern deepens evenly rather than favouring whichever side your arm reaches most easily. Ten minutes a session beats twenty once a week.
