A thousand bands in one bag. That is a stylist quantity rather than a household one, and it is packed accordingly, so if you braid regularly it is the sensible way to buy.

Black is the workhorse colour. On dark hair it disappears completely at the ends of braids, twists, cornrows and box braids, so the finish reads as clean rather than as a row of visible fastenings. On lighter hair it becomes a deliberate contrast, which some styles want anyway.

The bands are made from an elastic polymer with a smooth surface, so they come out without snagging or pulling at the ends. That matters more than hold does, because most of the damage rubber bands cause happens on removal rather than while they are in. Suits every curl pattern, and works for sectioning as well as finishing.

Application tips

Decant a few hundred into a jar or a bowl and leave the rest in the bag, because a thousand loose bands rolling round a kit box is its own small disaster. One band, two turns, move on to the next section.

At takedown, slide the closed blades of small scissors under the band and cut outwards, away from the hair. Never roll one down over the ends.

Results

Volume is the whole argument for this pack. If you braid weekly, or braid other people, you stop rationing and stop running out mid style, which is when people start reusing bands that have already been stretched past their useful life.

The hold itself is unremarkable in the best way. Firm at the ends of a plait, steady across a long day, and quiet against dark hair.

Composition

Elastic Polymer
Stretches round a thick section and pulls back without going slack
Smooth Surface
Comes away from the ends instead of catching on them

The full INCI is printed on the pack. We publish it here as soon as the brand supplies it, and we will read it off the bottle for you if you ask.
