Application tips
Match the band to the section rather than to the style. A parting that will be undone in twenty minutes wants the smallest size and a single turn. A finished plait that has to survive a week wants a bigger band and two.
Tip a handful into a shallow dish before you start, so you are not fishing about in a bag one-handed with a section held between your fingers.
