This one is 77 ml of pliable wax rather than the hard, waxy kind that goes greasy on contact. It holds without stiffening, so spikes, waves and curls keep their movement and you can still run a finger through the style afterwards. There is a light sheen to it too, which helps the hairline look deliberate rather than slicked. On 2c to 4c hair it is as useful on a short cut as it is around the edges of a protective style.
Direct application means you use very little, and the stick stays clean in a bag, which is why it tends to live in a handbag rather than on a shelf. Wipe the top after use if you have been layering it over gel.

Application tips
Work on dry hair. Wax and water do not mix, so anything damp underneath will lift again as it dries.
Glide the stick along the hairline once, then shape with an edge brush or an old toothbrush while the wax is still moving. Tie a scarf around the head for ten minutes to set it. It takes a proper shampoo to come out.
Results
Baby hairs stay where you put them for the rest of the day, and they stay soft enough to reshape without going back to the stick.
The finish has a low sheen instead of a wet look, so the hairline reads tidy and not glued. On short cuts it gives separation and grip without the crust a gel leaves once it dries.
