It is the same concentrated, water-based polymer hold as the professional jar, packed small enough to keep in a bag for touch-ups. Grip is the whole point here, so expect it to hold firmer than a standard locking gel and to need a little more care with placement. It still rinses out cleanly on wash day, with none of the residue a wax leaves behind.

Application tips
Keep this one in the bathroom cupboard and use it between salon visits, on the roots only.
A fingertip of gel at the new growth, then twist the loc clockwise or anticlockwise depending on which way it was started. Work in rows so you can see what you have done. Let it dry completely before a hat, a scarf or a pillow goes anywhere near, or the whole thing loosens off. Refresh the edges as often as they need it.
Results
New growth stays put. On hair too coarse for an ordinary locking gel, that is the difference between a tidy root and one that has sprung open by Wednesday.
Locs sit closer and look sharper along the partings, and the edges hold without a wax-like tackiness. Water takes it out entirely at the next wash, leaving the loc lighter than a wax would, and the small tub travels without leaking through a wash bag.
