The argument for a gel over a wax on locs comes down to wash day. Wax builds up, dulls the locs and takes a clarifying routine to shift. This one is water based, dries clear and dissolves out when you wash it.
The hold itself is firm. A polymer system keeps the loose hair at the root tightly in place and stops fresh locs unravelling between retwists, while conditioning agents in the base stop the hair drying out underneath. It looks like nothing on the hair once dry, so locs read as clean rather than coated.
The 16 oz jar is the professional size, worth having if you retwist often or work on clients. It suits new locs being started and established ones being maintained, across looser and tighter textures. Apply at the root on damp hair, palm roll or comb coil the section, then let it dry before you sleep on it.
