Application tips
For a smaller head, fold it narrower than you think and tie the knot to one side rather than dead centre at the back, where it presses against a car seat or a pillow.
Two fingers under the band is about the right tension. Over a ponytail, tie it round the base and let the tails sit with the hair. Check the knot after twenty minutes of running about.
Results
It does the ordinary job well, which is keeping hair out of a face that is busy doing something else. Beyond that it becomes whatever the game needs, and children work that out without being told.
The polyester holds its colour through repeated washing, and there is no stretch to go slack, so it fits the same at seven as it did at five.
