A British summer is humid without being hot, which is the worst combination for defined curls. Moisture in the air gets into the strand, the pattern swells, and definition that looked good at eight in the morning is fuzz by eleven. Humidity resistance is the reason to reach for a cream like this one.

The 11.5 oz jar sits on honey, coconut oil and shea butter, so it conditions as it styles and does not dry down chalky the way some definition creams do. Creme of Nature quote up to 72 hours of frizz control. Hair stays soft to the touch and the curl clumps hold without a cast.

It is a cream rather than a gel, which means definition with movement rather than a hard set. Apply to soaking wet hair, smooth through in sections, then scrunch or shingle depending on how much clumping you want.

Type 2c through 4a. If your curls are on the looser side, use less than you think, because this has enough body to weigh down a fine pattern.

Application tips

Do not let it near towel-dried hair; it wants the strands still running with water. Work it down each section, then either scrunch up for tighter clumps or shingle for a cleaner, more separated pattern.

Looser curls should use less than feels right, because there is enough body here to drag a 2c wave down. Air dry or diffuse, then leave it alone until it is completely dry.

Results

Frizz control runs up to 72 hours by the brand's own reckoning, which in a damp British summer means definition still holding at eleven in the morning.

Nothing goes crisp under the fingers and the clumps stay put without a shell over them. Definition comes with movement in it rather than as a hard set, and there is real conditioning happening at the same time.

Composition

Honey
Holds moisture in so definition survives humid air
Coconut Oil
Smooths the cuticle down so frizz has less to lift
Shea Butter
Conditions as it styles so the cream does not dry chalky
