One wash is usually enough unless the hair is heavily coated. Work the lather at the scalp and let it run down the lengths rather than piling the hair up on top of your head, which is how knots start. Follow it with the matching masque or a rich conditioner. Suited to 2c through 4b textures, and a sensible choice after a colour appointment or a long summer.

Application tips
Wet the hair thoroughly before the shampoo goes anywhere near it. Undiluted shampoo on dry patches is what makes a wash feel harsh.
A palmful for shoulder length, more for dense hair, worked into the scalp with fingertips for a good thirty seconds. Rinse until there is no slip left. If you are also using the masque, alternate the two rather than running protein on protein every wash.
Results
The wash itself stops being the weak point. Hair comes out clean and still feels like it has something in it, rather than the raw, squeaky state that leads to a fight with the comb.
Over a few weeks the ends look less ragged, mostly because fewer strands are giving up at the point of highest tension. Colour-treated and over-processed hair sees it soonest, since that is the hair with most to gain.
