A finishing product, and worth being precise about that. Hair Silk goes on last, after everything else, when the style is done and you want it to look polished rather than to behave differently.
Cantu build it around shea butter but keep the texture light, so it smooths the cuticle and reflects light without the greasy weight a heavier serum leaves. On a silk press it gives the glass finish people are after. On natural hair worn out it settles flyaways and stops frizz creeping back through the day. On relaxed hair it does both.
180 ml is a lot of finishing serum, because you use very little. Two or three drops rubbed between the palms and smoothed over the surface of the hair is the correct dose. More than that and you undo the reason for buying a light formula.
Works on relaxed, natural, texturised, coloured and permed hair, which is a wider range than most serums manage.

Application tips
Start with less than feels right. Two or three drops into the palm, press your hands together to warm it, then smooth over the mid-lengths and ends of dry or damp hair.
Roots do not need any. If you want more shine after that, add another drop rather than starting again with a fresh handful. It layers over a finished style without disturbing it, so save a little for flyaways at the end.
Results
Light bounces off the hair rather than sinking into it, which is what makes the difference between shiny and simply dark. The surface reads smooth from a distance and the frizz halo settles down. The hair still moves. Nothing goes stiff or tacky, curls keep their shape, and the finish holds through a day of being touched and tied back.
