The conditioner that pairs with Cantu's big cream shampoo, in the same 739 ml bottle, for the same reason: dense hair uses a lot of conditioner and running out mid wash is miserable.

It is a thick cream rather than a light rinse-out. That thickness matters on dry, brittle hair, where a thin conditioner slides off before it has done anything. Sulfate-free, so it is not working against a gentle cleanse.

What it does on a wash day:

  • Puts moisture back into hair that has gone dry and snappy
  • Gives enough slip to detangle without tearing
  • Brings the curl pattern back out as hair dries
  • Cuts down split ends by reducing the breakage that causes them

Squeeze the water out first so it is not diluted on contact, work it through in sections, then rinse. 739 ml, best on 2c through 4b textures.

Application tips

Dense hair wants more than you think. A palmful for shoulder length, two for anything longer or thicker, and the bottle is sized so you are not rationing it.

Once it is on, run a wide-tooth comb through from the ends up while the slip is still there. Give it three or four minutes before you rinse. Keep it off the roots if your scalp turns greasy quickly.

Results

Wash day gets shorter, mostly because the comb stops catching. Fewer broken pieces collect in the plughole and the whole process stops feeling like a fight.

Dry hair feels pliable rather than papery, and ends that were rough take on a smoother surface. There is no film left behind, so the softness reads as conditioned hair rather than a coating you can feel between your fingers.

Composition

No sulphates
