A 709 g bottle is a household size rather than a personal one, which tells you who this is for: big hair, long hair, or more than one head in the house.

It is a cream shampoo, so it behaves differently from a clear one. You still get a proper lather and it still shifts heavy product buildup, but the cream base means hair is not left stripped bare afterwards. Pure shea butter is the reason it stays gentle enough to use regularly.

The formula leaves out mineral oil, sulfates, parabens, silicones, phthalates, gluten, paraffin and propylene, which matters if you have colour in your hair and want it to last.

Some people run it as a co-wash between proper shampoos, others use it as their only cleanser. Both work. 709 g, for natural and colour-treated hair, 2c through 4a.

Application tips

A bottle this size invites you to use enough, which most people do not. Wet the hair fully, apply at the scalp in rows, and work down.

On a co-wash week, a single generous round and a long rinse is the whole job. If more than one head is using it, decant into a smaller bottle to keep the big one out of the shower spray.

Results

It lathers more than most cream shampoos and still leaves hair soft, which is an unusual combination. Heavy product comes off in one round.

Colour keeps its tone rather than fading a shade each wash, and the hair afterwards is soft enough to detangle under the water. Nothing squeaks and nothing feels stripped at the ends.
