Take-down day is where a lot of length gets lost. Six or eight weeks of shed hair is sitting in those braids waiting to come out, and if you go at it dry, it comes out attached to hair you wanted to keep.
This is a detangler made for that job specifically. It is thin enough to spray or pour along the braid, and it has enough slip to let the shed hair release on its own rather than being pulled through the knot. Application tips
Work top down, one braid at a time. Saturate the braid along its length, wait a minute for the shed hair to loosen, then unravel from the bottom up and separate with your fingers rather than a comb.
Do not batch-unravel the whole head first. Wet, loose, unseparated hair mats faster than braided hair ever did.
