A curl activator cream sits at the wetter end of styling. You apply it to soaking hair, not damp hair, and the water is part of how it works. It lets the cream clump strands together into curls as the hair dries rather than leaving them separated and frizzy.
Yari Naturals build this one on two oils. Extra virgin coconut oil handles the moisture, going into the shaft rather than coating it. Jamaican black castor oil is the heavier of the two and brings the weight that keeps a defined curl from puffing back out. That pairing is why the cream works on coils as well as looser curls. Coconut oil on its own is often too light to hold a shape on 4c hair, and castor oil on its own can sit on the surface without doing much for the dryness underneath.

Application tips
Put it on while the hair is dripping, straight out of the shower, and top up from a spray bottle if it starts drying on you.
Rake a section through with the fingers, smooth it over with flat palms, then scrunch upward from the ends. Leave it alone after that.
Air dry, or diffuse on low heat. On day two, wet your hands and squeeze the curls back into shape instead of adding more cream.
Results
Curls gather into proper clumps instead of drying as loose separated strands, and the pattern turns up on hair that normally reads as frizz. The finish stays soft to the touch, with no crunch to break out.
Coils hold their shape into the second and third day, and hair stays supple underneath while the style sets. 375ml is a sensible size for wash-day use on thick hair.
