The Lagos Braid strand sits in a useful middle ground between grip and slip. There is enough friction to hold a section while you part and feed, but not so much that it drags when you pull length through. Parts come out clean and the braid lanes stay tidy at the roots.
It is a Kanekalon-style modacrylic fibre, soft but with enough structure to plait neatly. Light enough to wear in volume without the weight pulling at the scalp, and it resists tangling through the wear of the style.
Braiders mix two or three shades in small feed-in increments to build depth, and this fibre takes that well, so the colour transition reads as gradual rather than as a hard line halfway down the braid.
It suits everything from fine detail braids to full, high-density installs on wavy, curly and coily hair. If you are new to pre-stretched fibre, the thing to adjust is how much you take per braid. The taper makes a section look thinner in the hand than it actually is, and most people pull too much on the first few before they calibrate.

Application tips
Begin on natural hair that has been washed, moisturised and stretched. Anything shrinking underneath will loosen the braid within a week.
Pull what you need straight from the pack and feed it in small increments rather than one heavy piece at the root. Dip the ends in hot water to seal them once you have finished, and wrap the whole lot at night.

The braid sits neat from the first day and keeps its definition for weeks, rather than fuzzing at the root after one wash.
It stays soft against the neck and shoulders, so a fresh install is comfortable to sleep in sooner than most. Tangling stays low as the style ages, which turns the take-down into a job of hours rather than an ordeal.
