Thick and coarse hair needs a conditioner with enough substance to actually coat it. Put a formula designed for fine hair on it and nothing much happens.
This is the version for thick hair, in a one litre salon bottle. It is a rich rinse-out aimed at lengths that are dry, coarse or damaged, and the weight of the formula is what lets it hold slip through a long detangle. Hair comes out smoother, with the shine that comes from a cuticle lying flat, and combing stops being the point at which strands snap.
Apply from mid-lengths to ends, leave it a minute or two, rinse well. It is tagged for type 3b through 4c, which is where most genuinely thick hair sits. At 33.81 oz it is a professional size, so decant some into a smaller bottle unless you enjoy wrestling a litre in the shower.

Application tips
Buying a litre means you can be generous, which is the point on dense hair. Split the head into four before you start and coat each quarter properly rather than smearing a handful over the top layer. Leave it while you do the rest of your shower.
Detangle in the conditioner, never after it, with a wide-tooth comb from the ends upward. Rinse until the water runs clean but the hair still feels slippery.
Results
Coarse hair that normally resists conditioner actually softens, because there is enough substance in the formula to coat a thick strand instead of skating over it. Slip lasts through a full detangle rather than running out halfway.
Hair dries smoother and with more shine, and the ends look less ragged. A litre turns a weekly compromise into a normal wash day.
