Application tips
Dry hair, no guard. Work against the direction of growth, and change your angle as you move round the head, because the crown and the nape rarely lie the same way as the sides.
Pull the skin flat with your free hand behind the ears and down the neck. Short passes, letting the teeth clear before the next one. Oil the blade before you start and again once you have brushed it out.
Results
Hair comes down to a proper skin finish instead of the grey cast a standard blade leaves behind. Over the crown and the whorls it stays consistent, which is exactly where patchiness usually announces itself.
On a bald fade the shortest section runs out to nothing, so there is no hard edge sitting at the bottom of the gradient. A buzz cut done this way looks deliberate.
