Application tips
On a beard, comb it out and take the length down before you go near any edges. Cheek line high and roughly where it grows, neck line a couple of fingers above the Adam's apple.
Angle the trimmer so you can watch the blade meet the hair. For design work, mark the shape with the corner of the blade first, then come back and clear out the inside.
Results
It earns its keep in the closing stretch of a haircut: a neckline that looks drawn on, ears cleared properly, a beard with edges rather than a fade into the jaw.
