The routine is the standard one. Shampoo, squeeze out the excess water, section the hair, work the mask from mid-length to ends, leave it while you finish, then rinse. Roots do not need it unless your scalp is dry too.
Sits comfortably on wavy through type 4a hair, particularly hair that is coloured, heat-styled or simply neglected for a while. If you are new to deep conditioning, go weekly for a month and then judge whether to keep that pace.

Application tips
Heat is what turns a good mask into a very good one.
Once it is on, wrap the hair in cling film and put a warm towel over the top, or use a heat cap if you own one, and give it twenty minutes rather than five. A wide-tooth comb through the mask distributes it better than fingers alone. Rinse in tepid water; hot water undoes some of the smoothing.
Results
Coarse hair that no longer answers to an ordinary conditioner is the audience. After a treatment, the lengths feel softer and heavier in a good way, tangles come apart under the comb, and hair that had gone matte reflects light again.
Half a kilo lasts a long time at one treatment a week, which is roughly the right frequency. Colour-treated hair notices the difference fastest.
