Coconut oil earns its reputation on one property. It is small enough to move into the hair shaft rather than sit on it, and hair oiled with coconut before a wash loses less protein during that wash. That is the reason a pre-poo works at all, and it is why coconut turns up in more Indian hair routines than any other oil. Vatika's enriched version is 200 ml of that idea, with botanicals added and a lighter feel than solid virgin coconut oil, which seizes up in a British winter and has to be melted before it goes anywhere near hair.
Use it before you wash, not after. Twenty minutes on dry hair, longer if you have the time, then shampoo. Hair comes out feeling denser and less porous, and holds moisture better through the week. Fine hair should keep it to the mid-lengths and ends. Coarser textures can take it right up to the scalp.
