Almond oil has a long history in Indian hair care, mostly as a weekly oiling before a wash rather than as a leave-in. Vatika bottle it at 200 ml in their enriched format, where a hero botanical is carried in a lighter oil base.
Sweet almond is one of the more agreeable oils to work with. It spreads easily, it is not sticky, and it washes out with a single shampoo, which is more than can be said for castor. That makes it a sensible weekly oil for people who cannot commit to a two-shampoo wash day. Warm the bottle in a mug of hot water for a minute, section the hair, and work the oil in from the scalp down. Twenty minutes is enough. An hour is better. Rinse and shampoo as normal, and hair comes out softer, shinier and easier to comb. Suits all textures from wavy through to coily, and it is a good first Vatika if you have not used the range.
