TXTR by Cantu Cleansing Oil Shampoo 16 oz / 473 ml - For Dry, Color-Treated Hair & Soothing Scalp
An oil-based cleanser behaves differently in the hand to a normal shampoo. It goes on slick rather than foaming, lifts the dirt with oil instead of detergent, and rinses away without that stripped, squeaky feeling that colour-treated hair really cannot afford.
Shea butter does the moisturising and castor oil the shine, while spearmint oil leaves a cool finish at the scalp that lasts a few minutes after rinsing. It is sulphate-free, which is the main reason colour holds up better with this than with a standard shampoo.
Expect very little lather. Work it into the scalp with your fingertips instead of piling hair on top of your head, let it sit for a minute, then rinse until the water runs clear. Hair should feel soft coming out of the shower rather than tangled and squeaky.
16 oz / 473 ml, so it lasts. Best for 2a through 3b hair that is dry, brittle or colour-treated, and worth having if your usual shampoo leaves your scalp tight by the time you have finished drying.

Application tips
Wet the hair fully first. An oil cleanser needs water to emulsify, and applied to damp hair it will drag rather than spread.
Take more product than a foaming shampoo asks for, since there is no lather to carry it around the head. Two rounds work better than one heavy round on hair that has a week of product in it. Follow with a conditioner while the hair is still dripping.
Results
Colour holds its depth longer than it does with a foaming shampoo, because nothing here is prising the cuticle open to let pigment out. Hair comes out slippery rather than clean-squeaking, so a comb goes through without a fight. There is a cool note across the scalp for a minute or two, and the ends stay pliable instead of turning to straw as they dry.
