The formula is built on coconut oil, and there is a reason that matters in a shampoo specifically. Coconut oil reduces the protein hair loses during washing, so the wash step does less damage than it otherwise would. Hair comes out softer, and over a run of washes it breaks less at the comb. Most shampoos try to undo their own harshness at the conditioner stage. This one does less harm to start with.
