Fine curls are easy to flatten. Most curl conditioners are built for density and weight, and on a 2b or a fine 3a they turn definition into limpness by the time the hair has dried.

TRUSS built this one light on purpose. It is a 10.14 fl oz conditioner with a pH-balanced base, and the balance it is chasing is enough moisture to soften and detangle without leaving residue on the strand. Curls come out defined and cohesive rather than separated into frizz, and there is shine in it without any coating you can feel. It is a salon product, used in TRUSS salons across more than twenty countries, which is generally a decent sign that it behaves predictably on a wide range of heads. Apply after shampoo, concentrate on mid-lengths to ends, then rinse. It suits waves and curls from type 2a through 3b, particularly normal to fine hair. If your curls are dense and coarse, this will feel too light and you will want something heavier.

Application tips

Use less than you would with a thick conditioner and put it lower down the head.

Mid-lengths to tips, a minute or two, comb through, rinse. Skip the scalp completely if your roots go flat by the afternoon. On fine curls a cooler rinse at the end keeps more of the definition than a hot one does. None of it should be left in.

Results

Definition survives the wash instead of collapsing, which is the specific problem this one solves.

There is enough softness to get a comb through and nothing left behind on the strand once the water is off. Shine is clean and light. Dense, coarse hair will find it thin and want a mask instead, but on loose waves and fine curls the pattern holds its shape as it dries.
