Application tips
Shampoo first, because a mask cannot get past a film of old product. Squeeze the hair out, split it into four, then paint it on from the mid-lengths to the tips with the ends taking the heaviest coat.
Cover with a plastic cap and leave it twenty minutes, longer if the room is warm. Rinse in stages, checking the slip as you go. Once a week while the hair is in a fragile patch.
Results
Fragile hair regains enough give to survive being handled. A wide-tooth comb travels the mid-lengths without that ripping noise, and the pieces that used to break off there stay attached instead.
Hair dries with a heavier, smoother finish than a conditioner gives. Over a month the ends look less ragged, largely because you have stopped snapping new ones off every wash day.
