It cleanses properly, but the oils and emollients in the base mean hair does not come out of the wash feeling rough. Softness is the honest selling point here. Strands are easier to move a comb through, which is usually where breakage happens on a wash day, and the improvement carries into how the style sets afterwards.
Dense 3b to 4c textures get the most out of it, particularly in winter when everything runs drier. Follow with a conditioner and it will do the job it was built for.
