The arguments on wash night usually start at the detangling stage, not the washing one. A shampoo that strips the lengths leaves knots that hurt to comb out, and after that nobody is enjoying the evening.
This is the children's bottle in the Sunny Isle range. Same Jamaican black castor oil at the centre, but a much softer supporting cast. Chamomile and aloe vera replace the peppermint, so there is no tingle to surprise anybody, and it leaves out sulphates, parabens and the harsher cleansing agents.
On a child's hair that means a wash that gets the scalp properly clean without leaving the lengths dry and knotted.
Section the hair before it goes anywhere near water, work the shampoo into the scalp with fingertips rather than piling it on top, and let the runoff do the lengths on its way down.
12oz, and it covers 2A to 3B comfortably. Worth having if your child's hair is textured and dries out fast between washes.

Application tips
Wet the hair thoroughly before anything else. A small amount worked into the scalp with fingertips is enough, and the lather can rinse down through the lengths on its own rather than being scrubbed in.
Keep it clear of the eyes, rinse until the water runs clear, then go straight into conditioner while the hair is still wet. Once a week suits most textured hair at this age.
Results
The scalp is left clean and the hair is not left creaking. None of that tight, stripped feeling that makes small children dread wash day.
Curls stay defined instead of puffing out, and the conditioner afterwards spreads further. Hair looks brighter and less dusty, which shows most after a week of playgrounds.
