Jamaican Black Castor Oil is a thick, heavy oil, and on children's hair the trick is getting the benefit of it without the weight. Sunny Isle handle that here by pairing it with marshmallow root, which is where most of the slip in this 12oz bottle comes from. Marshmallow root is a plant mucilage. In practical terms it makes hair slippery in a way oil alone cannot, so the comb goes through knots instead of into them. The castor oil then stays behind in the strand and does the conditioning.

  • Heavy moisture for dry, tangled children's hair
  • Marshmallow root slip for a painless comb-out
  • Castor oil conditioning that keeps breakage down
  • No parabens, sulphates or harsh detergents

Use it after shampoo on wet hair, leave it a few minutes, comb through, rinse. Suits children with waves, curls and coils that dry out fast, type 2A to 3B.

Application tips

Shampoo first, then squeeze the excess water out, otherwise this slides straight off. Apply from the ears down and leave the scalp alone.

Let it sit while you finish the rest of bath time. Detangle with a wide-tooth comb while the conditioner is still in and the hair is slippery, working in small handfuls, then rinse it out.

Results

Knots come out with far less pulling, which is usually the difference between a calm bath and a battle.

Hair dries soft rather than squeaky, keeps its curl pattern, and does not turn into a matted layer overnight. The morning after is the real test, and it is noticeably easier.
