Sunny Isle Jamaican Black Castor Oil Curly Styling Custard 8 oz
A custard is wetter than a cream and lighter than a gel. It goes on slick, dries down to a soft hold, and gives you definition you can still run your fingers through, which is the point if you want curls that move.
Sunny Isle build theirs on Jamaican black castor oil, with aloe vera and glycerin holding the moisture in. The hold is flexible rather than crunchy, so there is no cast to break out once the hair is dry.
- Defines curls and coils with a soft hold that lasts the day
- Aloe vera and glycerin keep the finish soft rather than stiff
- Smooths frizz and flyaways without flattening the volume
- Black castor oil conditions while the custard sets
Apply to soaking wet hair in sections, rake or shingle it through, then leave it alone while it dries. Best on type 3b through 4c textures. 8 oz.

Application tips
Soaking wet is not an exaggeration, so work over the sink or straight out of the shower, and rewet any section that has started to dry.
Emulsify a generous handful between your palms, then smooth it over a section with flat hands before you rake. Plop or diffuse afterwards rather than towel drying. Once it is on, hands off entirely until the hair is dry.
Results
Curl clumps hold together from root to tip and the definition survives a full day rather than fading by lunchtime. Glycerin keeps the finish soft in damp weather, though it can swell the hair on a properly humid one.
Volume stays, which is where a custard beats a heavy gel. Second day hair reshapes with water and a bit of scrunching rather than needing a full redo.
