Build-up on the scalp is hard to shift with a regular wash, especially if you use a lot of styling product. This one works as a clarifying shampoo, lifting product residue, environmental grime and excess sebum from the scalp and lengths. Most people use it as a reset wash, not an everyday cleanser.
Sulfur is paired with salicylic acid, a beta hydroxy acid that exfoliates the scalp surface and loosens dead skin and flaking. Sodium laureth sulfate and cocamidopropyl betaine handle the cleansing and build the lather, while polyquaternium-7 conditions on the way through so hair detangles afterwards. Disodium EDTA deals with mineral deposits left behind by hard water.

How to use it
Saturate hair and scalp with warm water. Massage a generous amount in with your fingertips, concentrating on the areas with most build-up, and leave the lather for one to two minutes before rinsing clean. A second wash is worth doing on very oily scalps. Follow with conditioner on the lengths.

Application tips
Save it for the wash that follows a heavy product week rather than using it every time. Wet the hair right through, apply to the scalp in four quarters, and massage with the pads of your fingers for a minute so the lather has time to work.
Rinse and repeat once. Follow with a conditioner or a mask, because a clarifying wash leaves the hair open and it will want moisture back.
Results
Afterwards the scalp feels genuinely clean rather than coated, and hair that had gone limp under layers of gel or oil comes back with movement. Flakes lift and rinse away instead of resettling.
There is a slight tightness once it is rinsed, which is what a clarifying wash feels like and why the conditioner step is not optional. Colour and styling both take better on a properly cleared head.
