The pintail is the metal one. Where a plastic tail flexes and wanders, the slim steel rod on the No.2413 stays where you put it, which is what you want when a parting has to be dead straight or a section has to be lifted cleanly out of the rest.
Most of its work is preparation rather than finishing. Sectioning for colour so the roots get even coverage. Isolating a panel before a cut. Picking out neat rows for braids. The fine teeth at the other end handle backcombing when a style needs height at the crown, and they tuck stray hairs back into place once the shape is set.
The body is anti-static and heat-resistant, so it survives being left near a dryer and does not charge the hair up as you work. A tool for anyone who does their own colour or braids at home, as much as for the salon.
