SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Shampoo
Thick curly hair needs a shampoo that cleans without taking the moisture with it, and this is the SheaMoisture range built for exactly that. Coconut and hibiscus is the one people reach for when curls have gone dry and dull.
Three ingredients carry the formula. Coconut oil hydrates and gives some protection against heat and chemical processing. Silk protein reduces breakage and smooths the strand. Neem oil, an old Ayurvedic staple, strengthens and puts the shine in the name. Aloe vera leaf juice, shea butter, panthenol and rosemary extract fill out the rest.
- Cleanses and hydrates in one step, with enough slip to start detangling
- No sulfates, parabens, phthalates, mineral oil or synthetic fragrance
- Colour safe, cruelty-free and ethically traded
- Suits thick type 2 and type 3 hair
Work it into wet hair, lather through the scalp and lengths, then rinse thoroughly and follow with the matching conditioner.

Application tips
Wet hair, and more of it than feels necessary, because curls soak up water slowly. Put the shampoo on your scalp in four or five spots, then massage in circles until it turns into a proper lather.
Let the run off do the lengths. Rubbing shampoo down the shaft is what causes tangling before you have even reached the conditioner. Rinse until the water runs clear.
Results
The scalp comes out properly clean and the lengths do not feel stripped, which is the balance thick curly hair usually has to choose between. Curls stay soft enough to finger through straight after.
Over a few washes the ends look less frayed and the hair takes conditioner better. Colour holds its tone rather than dulling off after two washes.
