SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie - 12 oz
The Curl Enhancing Smoothie is the product most people meet SheaMoisture through, and the shea butter base is why. It is a thick cream that spreads easily rather than a light lotion, so it stays on the hair long enough to shape it.
Coconut oil and hibiscus extract sit alongside the shea, and the smell is unmistakable: coconut first, hibiscus behind it, sweet without being sickly. The 12 oz jar is the standard size and the one worth buying if you have thick or long hair, since a smoothie gets applied in generous handfuls rather than in drops. Take a small amount on damp hair, warm it between your palms, and scrunch upward from the ends. It gives plump, defined curls with a soft finish rather than a hard cast, and it does not turn greasy through the day. Best on medium to thick curls that drink product, from loose waves through to tight coils.

Application tips
Damp hair, freshly conditioned, still dripping a little. Scoop out a lump and work it between your hands until it turns clear, then press it into one section at a time instead of raking it through.
Scrunch upward, then leave the hair alone. Touching curls while they dry is what makes frizz. Air dry or diffuse on low, and break any cast with a drop of oil at the end.
Results
Curls come out plumper and better defined, holding shape through the day rather than dropping by lunchtime. The finish stays soft to the touch, with no crunch to scrunch out.
Dense or long hair takes it well, which is what the jar size is for. Nothing turns greasy as the hours pass, and second day hair refreshes with water alone.
