Type 4 hair is the hardest to keep moisturised, because the tighter the coil the harder it is for the scalp's own oils to travel down the strand. The ends run dry long before the roots do, and that is where breakage starts.
Raw Shea Butter Restorative is the heaviest conditioner in the Shea Moisture core range and it exists for exactly this. Shea butter does most of the moisturising, and the texture is thick enough to coat a tight coil properly instead of sliding off it.

Section the hair, work it in from the ends upward, then rinse. Suited to type 3b through 4c hair that is dry, damaged or transitioning. If you are coming out of relaxer or colour, this is the one in the range worth starting with.

Application tips
Detangle before you rinse, not after. Once this is on, the hair is as slippery as it is going to get, and that window is when a comb should be moving.
Work in four or six parts depending on how much hair there is. Twist each finished piece and pin it away so it does not re-tangle with the rest.
Results
The slip is real, and knots that would normally have to be picked apart come loose in the hand. Coarse, porous lengths hold moisture past the first day, and the strand is more pliable, so styling pulls less. It is heavy, and looser textures will find it too much.
