This is the extra-nourishing option in the Shea Moisture kids range, aimed at exactly that. It is sulphate-free, so it cleans without pulling the last of the moisture out, and certified organic shea butter carries the conditioning alongside mango and carrot. The tangles loosen during the wash rather than after it, which is where most of the tears and most of the breakage come from. The bottle is 8 oz / 237 ml.
Suits fine through to coily children's hair, roughly 2A to 3B, and it works on adult hair too if you like a mild wash.

Application tips
Get them wet before the bottle comes out, or you will be wrestling a dry head. A coin-sized amount goes at the scalp, and it does not need much rubbing, since a big lather is not what cleans.
Rinse from the back of the head forward so it stays out of eyes. Go straight into the conditioner while the hair is still wet and heavy.
Results
Clean, without the squeaky, dried-out feel that sends a child straight back into tangles.
It stays soft enough to comb afterwards, which is most of the argument on a school night. Dryness and fluffiness settle down over a few washes and the strands feel less brittle in the hand.
