Gel on one side, oil on the other. A gel-oil is trying to give you clump and definition without the crunch, and hydration without the flatness a heavy oil brings, which is a harder balance than either product manages alone.
Coconut oil and shea butter carry the moisture here, and the gel side of the formula does the shaping. Curls clump rather than separate, the cast stays soft enough to break with your fingers, and the shine comes from the oil in the mix rather than from a topcoat you add afterwards. It is also forgiving on application, which is not true of every gel.

Rake it through soaking wet hair in sections, then scrunch. On looser waves use less than you think. On coils, go heavier and take your time. It is also one of the few styling products that looks much the same on day three as it did on day one, provided you leave it alone while it dries. Application tips
Hair needs to be dripping when this goes on, not towel-dried.
Emulsify a palmful between wet hands so it spreads before it grabs, then press it upward through each handful and let the clumps form on their own. Go back over any piece that feels dry to the touch, because a gap shows up as frizz later.
Diffuse on low or leave it to air dry, and keep your hands off it while it sets. Once bone dry, squeeze the lengths gently to soften the surface.
Results
Curls come out grouped rather than fanned, with a surface that catches light instead of looking dull and fluffy. The finish stays pliable, so hair moves rather than sitting in a hard shell.
Humidity has less to grab at, so the shape holds into the evening. The oil in the mix keeps the strand feeling soft under the hold, which is unusual in anything that defines this well.
