Gel on one side, oil on the other. A gel-oil is trying to give you clump and definition without the crunch, and hydration without the flatness a heavy oil brings, which is a harder balance than either product manages alone.
Coconut oil and shea butter carry the moisture here, and the gel side of the formula does the shaping. Curls clump rather than separate, the cast stays soft enough to break with your fingers, and the shine comes from the oil in the mix rather than from a topcoat you add afterwards. It is also forgiving on application, which is not true of every gel.

Rake it through soaking wet hair in sections, then scrunch. On looser waves use less than you think. On coils, go heavier and take your time. It is also one of the few styling products that looks much the same on day three as it did on day one, provided you leave it alone while it dries.
