It rinses out cleanly rather than accumulating in the hair, so the build-up that dulls a pattern over weeks does not gather in the first place. The method matters more than the amount. Cover clean damp hair with a very warm towel for a minute or two first. Soften a small amount of the 3.5 oz tub between your palms, smooth it over the hair, then brush firmly into the pattern you want. Cap or scarf on afterwards, and leave it for at least half an hour. Skipping the cap is why most people's waves do not set, and no amount of extra pomade makes up for it.

Application tips
Hair wants to be clean and damp, and a hot towel over it for a minute or two first opens things up so the pomade moves. Melt a small scoop between your hands until it loses its shape, then press it over the whole head instead of dropping it in one spot. Brush hard along the pattern, cover with a cap or a wrap, and give it half an hour at the very least.
Results
Waves come up more defined on a short cut, with the ridges reading deeper rather than simply shinier.
Hold lasts a full day without the hair feeling loaded or looking oily at the roots. There is softness in it too, so the brush keeps moving rather than catching, and it lifts out under water instead of needing a stripping shampoo.
