100% pure cold-pressed olive oil, sold as a hair treatment rather than a kitchen staple. Same oil, different intent, and the cold-pressing is what keeps the antioxidants, vitamins and fatty acids that refining would take out.
It is a heavy oil and that suits its purpose. On dry, brittle hair it restores the moisture that has been lost, which improves elasticity and makes the hair easier to handle without snapping. On the scalp it soothes the feel of dryness and irritation. The shine that comes back is a consequence of a smoother cuticle rather than a coating on top.

Application tips
Heat it gently first. A bowl of olive oil stood in hot water for five minutes goes on far more evenly than oil straight from a cold cupboard.
Coat the lengths, wrap in cling film or a cap, and let body heat do the rest. Do not add water to it; oil and water on the head together achieve very little. Two washes are needed to remove it.
Results
Heavy, slow and thoroughly effective on hair that has been dried out by heat or colour. Brittle lengths regain some give, so combing stops sounding like it is breaking things.
The scalp feels less tight afterwards. Shine returns because the cuticle has been smoothed rather than coated, which is why it does not look greasy once the hair has been washed properly.
