Safah's Natural Coconut Jamaican Castor Oil for Hair Growth & Scalp Health 3.5 oz
The coconut version of Safah's castor oil is the one to pick if the neat dark oil feels too thick or smells too strong for you. Virgin coconut oil thins the blend out and takes the smoky edge off the scent.
The two oils work at different depths. Coconut oil is small enough to move into the hair itself, which is why it helps dry, brittle strands feel more flexible. Black castor oil stays on the outside and holds that moisture in. The scalp gets the benefit of both, and the tight, dry feeling eases off after a couple of applications.
Use a few drops at a time. Along the partings for the scalp, pressed through the ends on damp hair, or worked into the lengths before a protective style. 3.5 oz, and small bottles like this last longer than you expect. Best on type 3b through 4c.

Application tips
A pea-sized amount is a full application for most people. Solid in a cold bathroom, so rub it between the palms until it turns liquid before it goes near your head.
If you are oiling before a protective style, do it the night before rather than the morning of, so the hair is not slippery when it comes to braiding. Shampoo twice when you take a treatment out.
Results
Lighter than the dark castor on its own and far easier to spread. Brittle strands come out of a treatment bending instead of snapping, and the castor keeps that softness in place across the week.
The scalp stops feeling tight after two or three applications. The coconut also takes the smoke out of the scent, which makes it the friendlier of the two bottles.
Composition
- Jamaican Black Castor Oil
- Sits on the outside of the strand and holds moisture in for days
- Virgin Coconut Oil
