Safah's has blended the clove bud essential oil into carrier oils and bottled it at 8.5 oz, so it is ready for the scalp without further dilution. Eugenol, the compound clove is known for, is also the reason to patch test before a full application. Start with a small amount along one parting and give it a day.
Applied sparingly it works as a pre-wash scalp oil, and whatever is left on your palms is enough for the ends. Denser textures that can carry a richer oil will suit it best, though there is no reason looser curls cannot use it in smaller amounts.

Application tips
Go slowly with this one. Half the amount you would use of a milder oil is the right starting point, applied along the partings and worked in with fingertips rather than nails.
Leave it on for thirty minutes under a cap, then shampoo it out properly. Do not layer it over another scented oil on the same day. Wash your hands afterwards, since clove clings to skin.
Results
Heat on the scalp and a smell that fills the room. The blend leaves the skin feeling warm and clean, and dryness around the parting settles after a couple of uses.
On the ends it adds a soft shine and a little weight, which helps coarse hair sit rather than fluff. The spice hangs about longer than most oils, so an evening application makes more sense than a morning one.
