Batana is a thick oil. It pours slowly and it stays where you put it, which is why traditional practice treats it as a treatment rather than a daily finishing oil.
Safah's blends it with lighter carrier oils in a 3.5 oz bottle, which makes it far easier to spread than raw batana on its own. The colour is dark and the smell is nutty and earthy. Both wash out.
Use it before a wash. Section the hair, work it through the mid-lengths and ends where damage tends to gather, then leave it for an hour or overnight under a cap before shampooing. It conditions well enough to soften rough ends and take the drag out of detangling, which is where a lot of length gets lost. Coarse, dry or heat-worn hair will get the most from it. Fine hair should use a very small amount and keep it off the roots, and shampoo twice afterwards, since one wash tends to leave the hair flat.

Application tips
Once a week is plenty. Stand the bottle in a mug of warm water for a minute if the room is cold, since a thinner oil spreads much further than a cold one.
Apply to hair that is dry, not damp, so nothing dilutes it. Cover a pillow if you are sleeping in it. Colour-treated blondes should test on a hidden section, because a dark oil can cast on light hair.
Results
Weight and softness in equal measure. Rough, heat-worn ends come out of a treatment noticeably smoother and the comb stops snagging, so fewer short pieces end up on the floor.
Hair looks darker and richer while the oil is in and returns to normal after washing. The scent is nutty and earthy, strong in the bottle and mild once it is on.
